When you are a pup parent, you want your furry friend to live as long as possible. Unfortunately, until scientists do dog-lovers a major solid, canine companions only have an average of 10 to 13 years, as reported by PetMD. 

However, some breeds do live longer than others! Here are a few dog breeds that have higher life expectancies.

Chihuahuas 

According to PetMD, these little guys live 14 to 16 years on average. 

Dachshunds

Yorkshire Terriers 

Yorkies have a life expectancy of 11 to 15 years. 

Pomeranians

Shih Tzus

Shih Tzu, known for their adorable faces and fancy hairdos, live about 10 to 18 years.
